There's a difference between Sirens and Mermaids. Sirens are closer to monsters. Born from violent deaths and years of abuse, they know no happiness. They know no sympathy. Killing men is simply a game of revenge. Terrors lean towards animals. If they don't scare you to death, their talons and razor-sharp teeth will finish the job. After years of physical abuse, they finally have the ability to fight back. Melodies are stunningly beautiful. Once they've caught your attention, their song will beckon you closer. They've learned the hard way what beauty will lead men to do. Now that they're untouchable, they use it to their advantage. Beauty that once tempted men to take what is not theirs, freely offers them what they deserve. Shifters turn fully into other animals and rip you to shreds. Being bullied to their suicide changed them. Where once they were stuck in one form to be mocked, they can now change into any form. Elora is a terror. She knows what men are capable of and has no sympathy for them. They deserve what they get. And from her, it is a watery death. However, children are always safe from her vengeance. When she saves a little boy from drowning, she thinks nothing of it. So why can't she keep his face out of her mind? She goes back to check on him and soon discovers more than she expected. Maybe men aren't born with hatred in their hearts. Maybe they are born as kind little boys with chubby cheeks and a toothy grin. Maybe they endure abuse as often as girls. Maybe Elora will begin to see them in a different light. However, as soon as she starts to change her mind, they find a scaled mermaid on the beach. Elora and the other sirens are baffled as to who would want to kill a mermaid. The closer they come to the truth, the bloodier the waters get. There are dark secrets hidden in the depths. Bonds will be stretched, alliances will be questioned, and the truth will come out.
