Chris Kord is usually dismissed as being nothing more than a classic nobody; an unremarkable young coffee shop barista whose most apparent talent seems to be sprinkling chocolate on cappuccinos while faking a smile. However, when he is not pouring coffee, Chris is a Dark Net King. Beneath his lowly appearance and quiet demeanour, he is the creator and administrator of Oblivion; an underground online social network designed solely for criminals. His platform attracts profiles ranging from petty delinquents to the most dangerous and feared crime lords this world has to offer. From his privileged position, Chris Kord monitors every interaction and animates gut wrenching discussions where assassins are hired and killings depicted. The criminals love him. They are convinced that he is doing a superb job since he is the ultimate shadow administrator whose skills render the platform almost invisible and facilitate very lucrative transactions. But everything falls apart when Chris commits the terrible mistake of hiring members of Oblivion to gain revenge on an unruly customer at his coffee shop. What was supposed to be nothing more than mere intimidation ends up being a horrific murder. Unable to cope, Chris Kord tries to run away from the deadly world he has created. But Oblivion has other ideas and won't let him escape.

Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I've been an internet user for twenty years now. That's older than some of my co-workers. It's over half my life. And still the internet feels like "the new thing." I used to take it for granted, like we all do. But at least I remember what it was like when it wasn't there. When you had to leaf through an encyclopedia set to find an answer. When you could only find Gillian Anderson's picture in magazines. Or later, when songs took 30 minutes to download and full-length movies were almost impossible to find, because no-one's hard drive could hold them.
