Sodapop Curtis has been in Vietnam for over a year. As if this wasn't bad enough, Soda's best friend, Steve, gets drafted soon after. New girl in town Nina is falling for Steve. Ponyboy doesn't know what to do with everyone gone. Darry is more present but still struggling to cope with everything that is happening. What will happen as tragedy strikes the group as they try to navigate life along with the devastation of war.
