Alison was looking forward to a fun-filled day at the beach. Things didn't go as planned. Located in an area known as the Red Triangle, Alison and her two friends were in the path of one of the ocean's apex predators. The Red Triangle is an area located off the coast of Northern California, that extends from Bodega Bay to Big Sur to just beyond the Farallon Islands. The area has a very large population of marine mammals, such as elephant seals, harbor seals, sea otters and sea lions, which are favored prey of great white sharks. Over thirty percent of recorded great white shark attacks on humans in the United States have occurred within the Red Triangle.
