WindClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, and ThunderClan have lapsed into an uneasy peace, after several skirmishes that have caused ThunderClan to lose territory to the powering RiverClan, the other Clans become prejudiced. The once friendly RiverClan is now seen as a group of backstabbing, lying, fox-hearted cats. DAWNPAW is indignant, always. She is sheltered, happy and annoyed. But then her world crumbles apart. FOXPAW is haunted. He refuses to let another die on his watch, and he becomes quietly terrified that his rogue kithood will come back and bite him. Foxpaw is terrified that, true to his name sake, he may actually end up like a fox. MOONPAW is sick of it. She's tired of the Clans and their drama, and after a horrible event, only wants peace. Although his half sister won't let anyone get a mouse-length next to him unless she's there. One day when Dawnpaw was out on a walk she runs into some Leafclan cats. She immediately runs to go tell Rainstar about what happened. Rainstar sets up a patrol for her to lead them to the Leafclan cats. Rainstar went as well, since that's her aunt and that she wanted to see Dawnpaw's skills. When they got there they were ambushed by five Leafclan cats. All of the cats hurled themselves at Rainstar. Before Dawnpaw could do anything she immediately blacked out only to realize that her paw was red with blood. Too scared to face her clanmates she runs into the forest until nightfall. Laying under the shade of a tree she falls asleep to meet a cat who would change her life forever.
