Queen terminó la gira "Live Killers" a principios de mayo de 1979 con su último concierto en Japón y antes de regresar a Londres Freddie, Brian, Roger y John decidieron ir directamente a Munich por dos semanas para visitar "Musicland" un estudio de grabación ubicado allá y ver si era adecuado para grabar su nuevo álbum; querían cambiar de estudio ya que las ultimas grabaciones las habían realizado en Francia y Montreaux, lugares hermosos pero un poco aburridos. Brian sat down on their kitchen counter, letting his blond friend adjust his hair one last time before they left. "Do you know where we're meeting Fred and John?" He reached over to the edge of the counter and grabbed a striped, button-down shirt. As he spoke he slid his long arms through the sleeves and distractedly buttoned it up. Roger used his fingers and a small comb to increase the volume of Brian's hair. "Freddie and John? What a sweetheart of you to think of them- but I didn't invite 'em."
