Cement is a collection of dry, absurd and comical short stories about ordinary people caught in situations that become increasingly difficult to explain. A funeral goes wrong. A convoy rolls out like the Wild West. A meeting without purpose. A receipt becomes a record of a life. And sometimes, the best thing to do with a perfectly good piece of concrete is absolutely nothing. Standalone stories. Unexpected situations. Very little sense of escape (unless you're a snail). Fantasy tales feature as well, and they too don't escape the lure of cement.

A 13-year-old boy gets taken away to a school for magic after his mom leaves him and his dad dies.

There's a saying that says the truth always comes out, one way or another. I never believed it. I thought everything could be fixed with a really good lie. Too bad to say that it can't. The truth is something you never see coming, no matter how much you prepare for it. And everytime it knows our weakest points; and we still try like hell to escape it. Charlotte Long is a 16 year old girl, both her parents died in a plane crash and she is left with her 17 year old brother. No one can know because Jackson (her brother) cannot be her legal guardian until he turns 18. Charlotte faces many challenges along with the hot and coldness of Zac. His on and off feelings towards her make her on and off with trusting him. She meets someone: Clay. Can she trust this boy? Will this create a love triangle? How many times will Charlotte get hurt and who will run to her rescue? Will anyone at all? Thats only the first couple chapters. What else could this lead into?

Kiyoshi Alex, a 13 year old boy who's parents died due to a unknown burglar that had broke in and killed them both brutally while Kiyoshi was at his friends house. His only relative he had left who he got was his grandpa, Saburo Alex. When Kiyoshi and his grandpa entered the house, his grandpa told him to go explore, which (as every main character does in a horror movie) he goes up the ladders to the attic and finds a VCR and a game with a controller plugged in the VCR, and a game starts called holes, a normal at first level, but as he progresses, it only gets weirder...will he get through the game easily...or will there be a sacrifice?

Posy "Moira" Hartford, had just started her job at the local grocery store. She was excited to be at the annual conference where all the grocery store managers and employees gathered to learn about the latest trends in the industry. Posy said her name was Moira, to be incognito. She was surprised to meet Ryan, the manager of the competing grocery store in town. They hit it off immediately and ended up going out together in a dinner date. Posy really liked Ryan, and she was pleased to find out he felt the same. They had an instant connection, and she couldn't believe how easy it was to talk to him. However, she soon found out that their relationship was complicated. She didn't know that they were true enemies at work, and she had no idea that they were competing grocery stores in a small town. It was difficult for Posy to understand why it was wrong for them to be together. She didn't see why it mattered where they worked. She was just happy to have met someone who made her feel so good. Ryan was the first person she had met who understood her on a deeper level, and she didn't want to let him go. Posy found out that Ryan had kept the key to her Malibu beach house, and she started dreaming of going there someday. She wanted to experience the beauty of Malibu with him by her side. But she knew that it could only happen if it was with him. Posy and Ryan were like a modern-day Romeo and Juliet. They were from different worlds and were supposed to be enemies, but they couldn't help but fall in love. They knew that their relationship was complicated.

This is a short story I wrote for school. If you want to know if you have been gifted with the power of fire, read this. Fire is deadly, but also brings life. Where would you let it lead you?

One might say they are magnets for misfortune. In this short book alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, and cold porridge for breakfast. It is my sad duty to write down these unpleasant tales, but there is nothing stopping you from putting this book down at once and reading something happy, if you prefer that sort of thing.
