Just an inside look on what I have to go through on a day -to-day journey

In a world filled with the symphony of sounds, I once encountered a person enveloped in the quietude of perpetual silence. Their inability to hear me left me grappling with an unsettling notion-I felt as though I were somehow at fault for my words falling on deaf ears. Driven by a desire to understand and help, I embarked on a journey to unravel the mysteries of their silent world. However, the more I sought solutions, the more the world seemed to reflect its own limitations back at me. It became painfully apparent that the fault did not lie with them; instead, it was a deficiency in our collective ability to extend a helping hand. As a species that prides itself on mastering the art of self-sufficiency, the realization struck hard. The deaf were not to be judged for their inability to hear; rather, it was us who bore the responsibility of creating a world where their presence could be felt. A world where they could showcase their essence without fear, without the burden of proving their worth to a world that often overlooked them. In the quiet corners of compassion, I discovered that we held no right to pass judgment on those who couldn't hear our words. Their pain was theirs to bear, and our role was not to cast them aside, but to carve out spaces where they could shine, where their existence spoke louder than any words could. It was a journey of self-discovery, teaching me that the true essence of humanity lies in embracing, understanding, and providing a sanctuary for those whose world remains veiled in silence.

To mark Deaf Awareness Week, a subject that resonates deeply with me as someone who is hard of hearing and is learning British Sign Language, I wanted to share with you all an article I wrote last year. Andi is a creature of habit. She's never changed her routine, met anyone new without being forced, nor stepped out of her comfortable bubble. During Andi's final year of business school, a new person moves into her apartment building. When news reaches her that this person is around her age, she slowly begins to shut herself away.
