Creatus, the son of God, conducts a vivisection on the Angel of Tranquillity, transforming him into Azrail, the Angel of Sorrow and Suffering. With Tranquillity gone, Chaos emerges. Azrail, now a fallen angel, encounters Death and his Horsemen. Azmaveth, the prince of Hell, falls in love with Azrail, sparking discord between Heaven and Hell.
