"This book gives an excellent grounding in magical self-defence." -Advert at Flourish and Blotts The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection is a book authored by Professor Quentin Trimble. This book provides insight and information on various dark creatures, it also contains some defensive spells, such as the Knockback Jinx. It was a required textbook for both first year and fourth year Defence Against the Dark Arts students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This book was an item on the 1991 school list of things needed.

I think I lead a pretty normal life. Sometimes I'm happy and sometimes I'm sad. But that's normal. I'd say that 80% of my life is amazing, and that other 20%? Well, that would be the opposite. Crushes that don't like me back, no wifi, bad grades, mean "friends" and so on. I'm pretty good at handling this 20% of my life. But how do I do it? I don't talk to my friends. Pfft.
