The world didn't end with a bang-it faded, Tree by Tree & River by River. By 2040, nature is gone, replaced by Artificial & Synthetic Food and controlled environments. People survive, but they don't truly live. On her birthday, Saanvika witnesses a world she never knew existed- Lush Forests, Fresh Food, Real Life. And for the first time, she feels something stronger than sadness- Responsibility. Because the future of Earth may lie in something as small... and fragile... as a Seed.

A research center of captive Gibbons in a current study on the cognitive effects of marijuana long term use hold a discussion. On this particular day they watch as the laboratory's sign is changed to reflect a new mission. The youngest Gabriella becomes upset what this means for them. All born in captivity, they are entertained with TV. A program hosts an offensive guest attributing the whole purpose of the Creator's intention for humanity to do at will. The eldest Gibbon Maximillian forces a discussion to put Gabriella at ease. In the process they discuss humankind's happiness given this special place, why are they destroying everything out of greed. They come to a conclusion from the title.

Hey, this is a story leaning towards promoting environmental protection. The tree I've used in the story, the 'Sakura' or Cherrywood, is a symbol of abundance. The people in this story, by cutting down the Cherry tree, rid themselves of the abundance of resources. Welcome to Paradise, an island off of the cold Oregan coast. It if full of wonder and mystery. The inhabitants of this island are nice and depend on one another until a boat comes full of strange men with machines. Suddenly this Paradise heads into a downward spiral of events leaving only one question: Is this really Paradise?
