"A star shines its brightest, when it's starting to collapse." Another short Deidara fanfic, in an alternate AU, about what happened right before he set off for his final mission. I couldn't bring myself to write a Deidara x Reader just yet, so I created an OC, Hisakata. I've posted this on instagram (@dei.dara) already, but I've modified this a bit. Don't we all love bittersweet moments and hopefully-subtle plot twists? The dialogue from "prologue" was inspired by the anime Kakegurui. Please let me know what ya think!

Correct me if I'm wrong, Naruto fans, but I found it interesting how Tobi wasn't there. It had me thinking would Deidara tell Tobi to run, to save his subordinate's life? To save him the pain of seeing what he was about to do? I don't know. I may be reading way too much into it, but a writer's ignorance is bliss. Took inspiration other fanfictions & edited with permission.
