We've all seen @emilyscartoons 'My Life as a Background Slytherin' comics. Well, what would it be like if a different background character described each Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher? Each year a different person, a different background, a different class. Well in this fanfic we can find out. With I, Elissa, as your Background Hufflepuff, we can see what I think of these 'adequate' professors. Warning: In PoA I will go into girly mode because Professor Lupin is around. Sorry but I love him 😍 Also mild language will be throughout the story.

Lucy is a 16 year old transfer student from Ilvermorny to Hogwarts. She arrives at the time of the Triwizard Tournament and Voldemort's physical return. Friends to lovers trope. This timeline is not canon compliant! Lucy is a sixth year student, and Harry, Ron, and Hermione are as well. Fred and George are seventh years. Voldemort has not physically returned yet, but he hasn't been absent from Harry's life, either, (This is explained further a few chapters in!) Umbridge is in her first year of teaching at the school. Rough bullet point outline since I'm not good at explaining it without too many spoilers. -Lucy is a sixth year student, first year at Hogwarts -Harry, Hermione and Ron are sixth years as well -Fred and George are seventh years -The Triwizard Tournament occurs this year -Voldemort does return still -Umbridge's first year of teaching -Umbridge is still awful I know this story isn't for everyone but I hope you'll give it a chance! I promise it's written out a lot better than it sounds. This is the first in the Born A No-Maj series! And I know people are going to hate on me for the title. Lucy is a muggle born. However, since she is American, I chose to make the series title Born A No-Maj. this doesn't mean she is born a muggle and turns magic later. She is simply born into a muggle family.
