when people hear the name dahlia aldera, there are many things that come to mind. but regardless of the order or what comes after, these were the first three.
1. the many titles she won during her karate career. it would be best to start locally where she'd won a total of three times before she advanced to the national level. she's currently the youngest all-valley winner, first winning tournament at 12 after taking down her opponent, a boy three years her senior, with a flying back kick. two years and two wins later, she would compete in the us national karate tournament, which she'd win twice. the second would her final fight before her untimely retirement, which leads to the second thing.
2. the infamous case of the alderas, when it found out by the general public that dahlia's skills on the mat were due to gwendolyn aldera's unconventional teaching style. no one knew the specifics to the case outside of those in the courtroom, the police, and the woman's famous, 4x divorced parents. world renowned fashion designer, charlotte aldera, and ceo of dynatox inc. terrance silver, both of whom fought for custody over their grandchild while their daughter served time for a myriad of crimes.
3. the person she became after everything, during retirement. after moving in with her grandmother, she developed an air of wealth that the average person couldn't inhale. she'd swapped out her kicks for leaps, her beat-up sneakers for anything with a heel, and her sucker punches for insults and glares that hit fragile minded bullies just as hard. on the surface, she'd evolved into something greater than herself, but she knew better. as did her court-ordered therapist, who after discovering she only had one friend and solely left the house for school, gave the social recluse an assignment: make a friend and teach them something.
and in what she would consider divine intervention, she met a boy who knew none of this, struggling to do the one thing she could possibly teach: karate.
