My name is Charlotte Winters and let me tell you a bit about myself. One month ago my parents told me we were moving from bright, sunny, Tallahassee, Florida, to cold, boring, Summerhills, New York. One week ago we first arrived at our new Summerhills home. One day ago I met my first friend of Summerhills, Miles Johnson, only one problem, Miles keeps talking about a summer camp he goes to, and how he's not sure it's for me. But by June 3rd, the last day of school, I find out, this camp is definitely for me. ~~Charlotte Winters: Demigod in training~~

This is not a book of perfect heroes. It's a diary. A notebook that someone gave me to write down what I remember before everything changed. Before I knew that my life was not normal. Before I understood why strange things always happened around me. Here I am trying to organize my story: my childhood, my family, the secrets that no one explained and the things that seemed like coincidences... but maybe never were. I don't know if this will work for anyone else. Maybe it's just for me, so I don't forget who I was before I discovered that the old gods still exist... and that some of us were born too close to them. If you're reading this, don't expect a clean story or a perfect hero. Just the life of a boy trying to understand why fate decided to turn him into something more than human.
