Eliza could bear the searing sting of her father's palm. She could bear her servant's barely giving her the time of day. She could bear the pains of hunger. But what she could not bear is her father selling her sister to the most vile man Eliza has ever had the displeasure of meeting. So Eliza does the only thing she could do. She whisks her sister, Annabelle, away in the middle of the night to London. They stow away on a merchant ship in the hopes to reach the Americas. Eliza prays that the merchants will allow them to stay aboard, though it is of the utmost importance that the crew knows nothing of their lives before they stepped onto their ship. And who is to say that the merchants don't have some secrets of their own...
