Eyeless Jack found the box, and the book it contained. He gave it to Ben and Jeff in exchange for them leaving him alone. They probably shouldn't have followed the instructions in the book. Definitely shouldn't have. Toby got involved by following Laughing Jack, trying to get him to give him a lollipop too. LJ probably shouldn't have decided to go into the room Jeff and Ben were in. Four boys, three ritual circles, and one less than normal demon; that is more than a little peved.
