Reze wakes up, on a desolate place, holding only the memories of a life that once was within her reach and a shirt that never belonged to her. The choice to run away with Denji was tempting, however, she couldn't bare to risk his life just for her. He didn't deserve to go through hell just for her, and besides, he could still find someone to love him. Afterall, taking risks and making gambles, wasn't her thing, she was a country mouse. Right? Long before the Chainsaw Devil was a target, he was just a child caught in the harsh training grounds of Russia. There, he forged a forbidden connection with a young, weaponized girl. Years later, when the Bomb Devil is unleashed on Japan, she must confront not only her mission to kill the Chainsaw Man, but the agonizing memory of the boy who first taught her to dream. Nothing that's good in this life is easy, and walking away from Denji when he needs Reze is an easy way out. Turning back to meet her lover, Reze and Denji now walk a tedious line threaded between their blooming romance and the endless wrath of Makima, the Control Devil. Through this trivial debut of a relationship, Reze both daydreams what life as a country mouse could mean, and becomes increasingly anxious that she is being watched and that something is bound to go wrong. Denji, on the other hand, is making the first real decision of his life; will he trust Reze and leave everything he's grown to love in pursuit of a life with her?
