Dennie Monroe is one of eight children, but in a family so big she's never felt more alone. So she fills her life and her time with parties, drinking, art, school, sports and friends. On the outside she seems happy, popular and content, and only she knows of the bleak lonliness she feels inside; and that's the way she likes it. Then one day a move to America turns her life upside down, and forces her to confront family issues, love and the learning curves she refused to endure.

When they came, they took everything. The world was drowned in a menacing darkness. They rule now. And they feed on us, on our fear. Who are they? Monsters Dennie is stuck in holding facility where monsters feed on her nightmares. But what happens when she foresees in her nightmare the president commitment suicide. Worried that this might be the very end for human life she escapes in the dead of night, on a mission to stop the death of their last hope. But the president isn't the last hope. Dennie is.
