What is root canal treatment and when it is necessary
Root canal treatment (endodontics) is a dental procedure to remove the cavity in teeth and protect it using a crown. The treatment is not painful as it is used to preserve the decayed teeth instead of removing them completely. When tooth decay progresses and reaches the soft core, the dental pulp can become inflamed, infected, or even die. In such cases, a root canal procedure is necessary to treat the tooth and eliminate the infection.
A root canal treatment involves the removal of bacteria from the infected root canal of the tooth, preventing further infection. After removing the infected pulp, the inside of the tooth is carefully disinfected, cleaned, and then filled to seal the space. This procedure effectively saves the natural tooth.
