While waiting for her trial and being in prison, she is able to concoct a plan to escape her sentence and find the Academy: a somewhat mythical institution where people who can control one of the four elements, like herself, can be protected from both the human government and Callis-a society apt on kidnapping her for her DNA. She didn't enjoy executing her plan with a crew. Especially a group of inexperienced boys. It wasn't as if she had a choice. But it was necessary. Wesley was a purebred in a group of mutts. And in the end she was their superior, no matter what she thought, herself. She just hoped she would die in a blaze of glory.
