When one of James S. Potter's twins is a squib, at first he thinks he will be able to deal with it. He's shocked when people snicker and whisper behind his back, something new for him. Devastated and unsure, he begs his wife, to send their newborn away. Desiree Potter reluctantly agrees to send her daughter off to a cousin in California, though she never forgives him or look at him quite the same. Neither will his children when they find out.

Desiree David is surprised to learn that she is a witch when she turns eleven. She isn't just a witch like her father was though; she is also part Veela. She has always wondered who her father was, why he wasn't a part of her life. Will being at Hogwarts help her learn about who she is or just leave her with more questions? Then there's the fact that people she has never met seem to already know her and her mother.

At the age of eleven, Desiree David is surprised to learn that she has magic. That doesn't mean that she isn't a powerful witch, just like her father was, however. She has always wondered who her father was, and she wonders if she may learn at Hogwarts. But will she be happy when she learns who her father is? And when will boys stop following her for her looks? And girls stop being jealous of her? Only time will tell.
