Rick couldn't bring himself to kill him, that would be too easy. Everyone was able to finally sleep with both eyes closed, knowing they no longer serve the saviours. Daryl on the other hand, was miserable. He had lost his closest friend, Carol in the fight and he was still greiving even a month after her death. Jesus had been there for Daryl since the war, trying his best to bring him comfort.
