Sapphire was injured, trying to save one of her fellow Cirque Du Soleil members, so they are giving her time off, since she has nowhere else to go she decides, to go live with her brother, James. If you don't know what Cirque Du Soleil is it's like a cool circus thing with beautiful circus acts, (some travel some don't) that's who she works for (the traveling one), so there's no confusion. The Creatures are a small operation that is quickly rising to power in the Denver streets. What with claiming territory and even making a few pot-shots at the larger corporations, they attracted a bit of attention;While out on a run, James and Jordan get a mysterious call warning them of some unknown event. At their headquarters, an attack is launched on Dan-- whom quickly retaliates, but in the end, is taken hostage;James and Jordan return to find Dan mysteriously absent... With the foreshadowing of the call in place, they quickly round up the rest of the guys and trace the area code, sending their own message out to the kidnappers... All the while Dan is being tortured, partially for information.. Partially to send a message;As his torturer goes to kill him, Dan manages to escape-- but not for long. He's soon captured and nearly killed... Just when the others show up to rescue him, and the gang life goes on.
