"All I long for is a chance at choosing. Just... to hold on to a glimpse of possibilities." -Vivian Harter. Year 852-So dire is Marley's awakening in the aftermath of Paradis' debacle, deprived of what gives its golden blood pride. When everything dulls and rots in one's hand, each new step forward might be the final one. "Eyes brave, chests full, honest men," they exclaim with straight spines, their hands held up as they seek to conquer the very skies, once witnesses to their rise-yet how honest are they, when none dare face their own reflection? Conspiracies, distrust and paranoia-all gnawing at that dear facade as whispers of a new world order stir louder and louder. And yet... it is amidst Glory's death that Vivian Harter, a simple soldier in the Army of a thousand victories, will reclaim herself. "How changed you are," Reiner Braun once admitted after years of silence. "So are you," she whispered in return. The eternal winter will, at last, taste its own end. ...At what cost? -Pairing: Reiner Braun (CC) x Vivian Harter (OC). -Complete worldbuilding and numerous original characters added for the plot. -Centered on the years 852-854. -Four factions: the Military, the Aristocracy, the Volunteers, the Restorationists. -Mature, psychological, historical and morally grey themes are addressed. -Tropes: slow burn, friends to lovers, angst with a happy ending, mutual protective deception, hurt/comfort.

Set during the Uruguayan civic-military dictatorship and Operation Condor, the story recounts the harrowing descent into horror of doctors Gustavo Lambert and Martha Santana after being captured by repressive forces at their chalet in Salinas. Transferred to the Punta Gorda mansion-a clandestine detention center known as *El Infierno Chico* ("The Little Hell")-they fall under the yoke of the sadistic Captain Alberto Méndez. The dramatic core of the story rests on the complex metamorphosis of Alicia Schull, a former comrade-in-arms. Having suffered devastating losses, Alicia feigns integration into the military structure, donning the enemy uniform to become a key figure in SID (Defense Intelligence Service) intelligence. She engages in a risky game of seduction and psychological manipulation with Captain Méndez to buy time and protect her friends from torture. The plot culminates in a frantic, violent escape aboard a military Ford Maverick along the Montevideo waterfront. Evasion of police patrols under bursts of submachine-gun fire ends only when the car crashes into the gardens of the Swedish embassy.

In 1966, when the 20-year-old politically inexperienced Queen of Midoria ascends to the throne, Elenora Ashila inherits a kingdom that has become increasingly polarized. Things take a dramatic turn, when high-ranking general, Rikard Pereno, urges her to make him prime minister and dissolve the parliament because of the ''threat'' of communism. A caretaker hands her a telegram from a foreign reporter that tells her about what's actually happening in her kingdom. A game of influence, persuasion, and loyalty ensues.

"The Land of Olives and Lemons" is the tenth volume in my book series "The Right People". In the winter of 1973, Tom is kidnapped by Melinda, an ex-agent of the East German secret police. While Tom's friends, led by Nikos, try to rescue him, Melinda forces Tom to drive her to the American Embassy in Bonn, and then releases him. No sooner have they survived this adventure than Tom and his friends, after a brief stopover in Libya, are sent to Cyprus where they are to find out who is behind the constant killings of Turkish Cypriots, which are destabilizing the country. In doing so, they come dangerously close to the EOKA-B terrorists, who, as it turns out, are being controlled by the Athens junta. The aim of the Greek regime is to have a pretext for annexing the island. A war between Turkey and Greece seems imminent. I would like to point out once again that this book is fiction, albeit based on intensive research into the historical context. All persons, including officials appearing in the book, as well as the plot, are fictitious. New chapters will be published every Saturday.

A young teenage girl, haunted by the memories of her father's execution, attempts to escape a cruel regime by night. A solitary woman, abandoned by her husband, inadvertently plays into the cruel hands of 'the state'. In another totalitarian regime a traffic light fixer is dealt with brutally for admiring a sunset. All these characters capture the essence of what it's like to be disempowered and cruelly dehumanised at the hands of a heinous, corrupt power. This sharp collection of pertinent short stories throws an at times uncomfortable light on cruelty, injustice and persecution that is all too relevant today. But ultimately these stories celebrate the strength and determination to survive at all costs, that exists within all of us.

Book Two: They encourage, not the realists and the brave, but the gullible and the fragile, those too weak to fight back. They massacre lower and middle-class citizens once every month to control the growing population through a method called Cleansing. They rid of all music except modern pop to eliminate diversity, keeping only one artist from each state in the music industry. They stop anyone from going in or out of the country and kick out all those not born within the now-armed borders. And that's just the beginning of what they call "The Great Reformation," the grand change of the United States government and all of its operations. All because the United Kingdom has turned against the nation and declared war, or so President Nathaniel Carter says. Carter, as the dictator, begins to tell citizens certain things, things that Ryan Tedder and his bandmates, Zach, Eddie, Brent, and Drew, don't actually buy. After all, physicist Niels Bohr once said, "The best weapon of a dictatorship is secrecy." Along with this chaos, Ryan is trying to deal with the stress of Ramona becoming distant due to her past reappearing, and the new rules and regulations making his career walk on a tightrope. The national anthem may say otherwise, but the United States is no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave. Not with the new government. Ryan and the other guys are determined to dig through the lies and find the real reason why. © 2016 by Verona Rohellec. Second installment of the Blooming Passion trilogy. Complete. Mature language. Extreme violence. Sensitive topics. Highest Rank(s) - #1 in Totalitarianism (tag) (nice!), #1 in Ryan Tedder (tag) (yay!), #3 in OneRepublic (tag). Thanks to libellule_ for the AMAZING cover! Another to Kim A. for helping with the trilogy's plot. And a thanks to the dedicated members of the OneRepublic fandom who read and give so much support!

From the thoughts of Riley Gallagher: The world is absolutely crazy. I'm running for my life. I'm wet, tired, and scared. Most importantly, I don't know who to trust, where to go, or what to do now. I'm a traitor to both sides, and I'm unsure of myself. But there is one thing I'm sure of. I'm guilty of this crime that I wish I never comitted. Then maybe my father would still be alive. Maybe I wouldn't be the most wanted. But it's too late for regrets. I was Convicted.

We often just accept it, blinkedly, ignorantly, obliviously, don't have the time or energy to question, too wrapped in ourselves, our lives. It astounds me the sheer, stark polar opposites between the wealthy Western World and the torn and troublesome Third World. That's what this poem's about.

It's the year 2031, the planet Earth is in the middle of World War Three, but the United States is not part of it, officially. The US since 2024, has been reorganized as the United States of North America, where there is no unemployment, no crime, no terrorism, no illegal immigration, and no poverty. However, there is also no democracy, no freedom of speech, and no human rights. While North America is under the dictatorial rule of President Pemp, it seems that a great deal of government power, factional influence, and criminal justice is being dispensed from an old antiballistic missile base in the middle of nowhere near the geographic center of the North American continent. Two old friends reunite at the abandoned ABM base, one destined to keep North America rising and making sure the world continues to murder itself off and one destined to keep North America declining and making sure the world stops killing itself off. Continual war and death or continual peace and life? Which destiny will win out in Nekoma?

It's the year 2118 and so much has changed in the last century. Technology has further advanced making the world seem as futuristic as it was believed to be in the early 2000's. Not only that, but the once called Riverine has gone from a Democracy to a Dictatorship, and has been this way for the past 20 years. Frearwyn, as its now called, is run by Namor Patrick. His idea of running a country is by making sure everyone follows the rules and plays their parts. He's like a sick director of a well known play. People these days have no freedom. If someone steps out of line, they must face harsh consequences that are over the top for such small things. These people need their lives back, nobody should have to live like this! That's why I, and the other leaders are here. We are the M.O.N.T.H.E.S. #Action - 941 (3/13/17) :P #Action - 561 (4/1/17) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
