Dedue skids to a halt as he takes in the scene before him. His Highness's fallen form fills his vision, his body pierced with a multitude of lances, a growing blood stain swelling around him. Dedue's heart stutters in his chest. He's paralyzed; his lungs seize, his mind shatters. It has been a year since Dimitri took back the throne and ended the five-year war that almost destroyed him. But his past still haunts him. He struggles to find peace in Fhirdiad, a place filled with so many unpleasant memories. When Dedue suggests that they visit Garreg Mach monastery, he jumps at the opportunity to escape from the crushing weight of being king, if only for a short while. But reminders of other duties, more specifically marriage, will not leave him be, and Dimitri is forced to face the reality that he will never be allowed to be with the one he loves...unless he rips the foundations of the Kingdom to shreds.
