I wasn't able to process my thoughts. My heart was thumping, echoing loudly in my ears. Adrenaline coursed through my veins from the chase, making it even harder to calm down. I looked down at the thing that started this mess and it hit me.
I knew what I had to do to end this.
"Hand it over Jocelyn. You have nowhere to go." His gun was trained on me, revealing the future price of my actions.
But he was wrong.
I did have somewhere to go.
Down.
Without a moment of hesitation, I emptied my hand of its contents, and watched it fall in to the water below.
But instead of waiting for the bullet to fly towards me, I jumped after the chain, holding my breath in anticipation and praying that somehow I would survive this fall.
