In a fantasy world, where magic has faded and technology has burgeoned, Glark Underbrick, a goblin wizard who runs an unsuccessful magical bookshop, is resigned to magic becoming little more than a memory. Until one day he takes possession of another wizard's library and accidentally summons a god. When the god says that magic can be restored, Glark undertakes to do just that, only he needs to earn money in the meantime as restoring magic, and the god, to their full power may take a while. When a young dwarven girl becomes Glark's assistant, it leads to Glark diversifying, dealing with the local witch, town authorities, and a cadre of wizards out to find out where Glark is getting his new-found powers. From the local fête, to a book festival and a host of holiday makers wanting their dream holidays to come true, Glark has a lot on his hands, but can he manage to bring everything under control, or will it become nothing but a disaster? The first book in the 'Cucumber Sands' series.

Politics is a cutthroat game, but when you're dead, it doesn't matter what they cut. And it is a dirty game, filled with the kind of people that think nothing of ruining an opponent's life, but few go so far as throwing their counterparts through windows. When Balmy Bymeadow is improbably murdered, his son, Myld, is forced to carry on his father's legacy, but, in order to do so, he must take the unprecedented course of keeping his dead father around. Aided by Finella, a uniquely talented taxidermist, her sister, Flinda, a self-appointed Fairly Gods-Mother, and Phibber Monkshot, a wily and incredibly competent civil servant, in his corner, Myld must navigate the torrid waters of politics, deal with his surprisingly mobile dead father, avoid several near-death experiences and learn what it requires to get elected in a city where politics is quite literally a life or death struggle. With a pinch of 'Yes, Minister', a dash of 'The Walking Dead', and a heaped spoonful of 'Discworld'. The fourth novel of the ongoing Discworld inspired series.

Magic is a fickle thing. Throughout human history it has been surrounded by myth and legend. Culturally it has been mistaken for what is unknown, a way of explaining what has no definable cause. If crops failed to produce a bountiful harvest, it is was a failure to appease the gods on part of the farmer. If a relative died from an unknown cause, it was witchcraft. Magic is a scape goat for when understanding is lacking. For this reason, magic is shrouded in mystery. However, magic is real, and it not all that mysterious. For those who have experience of real magic, its just another form of science. Magic is governed by rules, just like the rest of all that is physical. What differentiates magic is that its rules do not comply with those of everything else. Magic acts in a way that is not 'natural', even though for magic it is perfectly natural. Those who understand magic know this. Fortunately, the mystery and mistrust that surrounds magic serves magic users fairly well.

The city grows, the city breaths, and the city poops one hundred thousand chic... ...fresh straight out into the ocean every single day. But most of all the city shines. And in the center of the city a young girl sleeps peaceful, dreaming of dragons Golems and Werewolves, with her five foot tall sword laying on her bedside table. "What brings you too my domain." The Golems voice rumbled through the air, small rocks falling from the ceiling. The thing was huge, Clara doubted her sword was going to do anything against it. She gulped. "Just...you know going sight seeing that's all." She said conversationally.

Terry Pratchett is probably my favorite author of all time. I heard yesterday that he had died, and I had to do a tribute to thank him for all that he added to my life through his books. GNU Sir Terry Pratchett. I do not own any characters in this, and I take all my inspiration from Terry Pratchett's last Twitter post.
