I, Miles Mercer, always thought adulthood would feel lighter than this. I pictured myself young and free, living loudly before life asked me to settle, before responsibility showed up early and uninvited. College was never an option-I couldn't afford it-so I worked instead, one job bleeding into another, paying bills that never seemed to shrink. My parents checked out long before I did; everyone was left to fend for themselves, and with older brothers already fighting their own battles, I learned early how to stand alone. At night, I worked at a bar, and sometimes-when my boss was in a good mood-he'd let me play. Just me, a guitar, and a room that slowly learned my name. The crowds grew. The tips got better. People started coming just to hear me. That's when I knew I couldn't keep doing this halfway. I needed to chase it fully. And somewhere between wanting more and needing escape, I met Violet-the college girl who walked into my life in winter right before everything stopped.

Evelina came to New York chasing opportunity, but all she's found is exhaustion. Working under a short-term contract in an office that barely notices her, she spends her days trying to stay professional and unseen. Her boss's unwanted interest and her coworker's quiet resentment make each day heavier. Outside of work, her small apartment feels more like a cage than a home, shared with a roommate she can't connect with and a silence that grows louder every night. Her father doesn't support her choices, and money keeps running thin. When Evelina is assigned to a new project with Max - a distant, cold colleague - an unexpected mistake threatens both of their careers. But in the fallout, something begins to shift. Between long subway rides, missed meals, and quiet conversations, Evelina starts to see that survival isn't enough - she has to decide what kind of life she actually wants to build.

In a world where cities appear to be utopian, there is a hidden darkness, a shadow cast by the dazzling light. It exists among the warehouses that border these cities, in the crumbling apartments that were abandoned years ago. It exists in the minds of those labeled as Latents. These Latents are the outcasts of society, hunted by those who fear their power. Cast from their homes, they take refuge in the abandoned slums, living each day in terror, loathing the abilities they were cursed with. Itzal knows this fear as well as any other Latent. Thrown from his home at the age of ten, Itzal has survived in the outskirts of Sola, using his ability to control shadows as a means of escape. But one can't run forever. After being defeated by a pair of hunters, Itzal is saved by a member of the Resistance, which he is soon dragged into. This group of Latents is determined to better the world for all of their kind. But as Itzal soon discovers, the Resistance's cause isn't as noble as it seems. This is the first book of the Fallacy series. I hope you enjoy! It is a work in progress, so I will be editing as I go. -=-=-=-Author's Note-=-=-=- I'd like to thank YourBestNightmare for this fantastic cover. I'd also like to thank the following artists for providing such amazing cover choices (you made it hard for me to choose xD): TURTLES2001 JaylaQuaaid Savaannnahhhh_ CorvusTenebrae BLUE_ROSE123 SharonRocks11 If you ever need a cover, be sure to check these amazing artists out! Also, I attempt to update this story fairly regularly (a first for me). You can pretty much expect a new chapter every three days. If I fail to do so... Well, blame school. xD

The premise of the game is that the Protagonists are people who, for various reasons, have been unable to sleep for a long time, and they begin to see the extra doors and windows that lead to the Mad City. The Mad City is a strange twisted place where Nightmares walk in the ever present night and lost things end up. The Protagonists must deal with these Nightmares, most of whom would love to taste their Awakened flesh and souls, to complete their personal journeys.

This is Part 1 of a multi part explanation as to man's behavior on his floating rock he has cleverly dubbed Earth. This piece dispels many universally accepted theories on a number of issues and beliefs. There is no fiction here, no stretching of the imagination. Just common sense conclusions based on published, scholarly research. The facts are offered in a readable story like presentation to appeal to all audiences.

If this were Ancient Greece, what heroes and myths would we be creating to explain our current universe? This poetry series deals with the current state of the Hero myth in modern western society. Do we still believe in real-life heroes today? Do we reserve this thought only for films and fiction and a source of entertainment? Why have our ideals about North American freedom and opportunity become so cynical and pessimistic and conservative? For more details: https://anamericanhero.wordpress.com/

Hector O'Halloran looks like the ideal catch, but he can never keep a romantic relationship on track for long. Women quickly tire of his self-centred style. They need to move on, find someone who does not confuse love with exploitation. But no matter how much they try, they cannot shake the compelling desire to transform needy, demanding Hal over into someone they can love. Is it love, or co-dependency? Is Hal beyond redemption, or does his inner child need more TLC? When he tells the woman of the moment that he can't live without her, is he expressing his need for deep connection, or is everything he says pure manipulation? Four very different women discover that they have one thing in common -- Hal-itosis. The past cannot be re-set, but is there hope for the future. Rankings April 19, 2022: #! disillusionment (of 136) #2 reality check (of 195) #3 antiromance (of 142) #3 healthy relationships (of 56) #4 codependency (of 213) This story is an anti-romance of sorts. Romance is the icing on the cake, not the whole meal. The tale of Hal and his exes includes sexual situations and mature themes. If you are looking for a blow-by-blow account of frenzied sexual activity, you will be disappointed. If you are interested in life and love and how sexuality fits into them, you might find this a refreshing read. Disclaimer: Edmonton and Calgary are real cities in Alberta. The Muttart Conservatory is a well-known landmark. Gananoque is a small picturesque community in Ontario. All else is fiction. Any resemblance to actual organizations, businesses, people, or situations is purely coincidental.

"Let's play a game," he whispers playfully into my ear. I hum and turn my head, "Twenty-two questions?" I ask instantly, a grin tugging at the edges of my cheeks. He smiles adorably, again, indicating a yes as he nods. My stomach flutters as his smile melts my heart. He snakes his arm around my waist in a hug. Oh Irene please let me stay here. "What do your lips taste like?" I shake my head and he releases his hold of me. Nooo. I knit my eyebrows together. I move and lean on the door frame facing him from the opposite, "I don't know... why don't you taste them for me," I hint, a cheeky smile creeping onto my face once again. He leans forward, smirking as he steps forward getting closer to my face. His breath hits my face, he slides his arm around my back and then unexpectedly he bites my lip. "Mmm... mango," he says softly. He then presses his lips up to mine and our lips intertwine, I wrap my hands around his neck as I savour our kiss. +++ Twenty-four-year-old Aphmau Jessica Pheonix finds herself at the beginning of a new relationship, being in a new relationship meant she had finally chosen between Laurance, Garroth & Aaron.
