This story was made to explore the tragedy of the human cost of greed, power, and war. Using two perspectives: a personal one, through the perspective of a young child, and a historical one, to understand how the conflict came to rise.

This is a story that I am writing for my own pleasure, and to a large extent, for my self-therapy. 'Kacper is a humanitarian worker. On daily basis, he deals with wars, conflicts, forced displacement, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, floods, droughts, forced displacement, outbreaks of diseases, poverty, lack of prospects for sustainable development of societies across the world, growing inequalities between the rich and the poor. These experiences make him outraged, sad and leave him feeling depressed and helpless. Yet he is also a typical product of Western consumerism: with ambitions of career, inflated ego, desires which are unreasonable and unsustainable. This story is about how Kacper is trying to cope with contradictions and dilemmas that his life has brought on him.' All names and characters featured in the story are fictional.

A line forms at the watering hole for the first time in history. A shell necklace is worn, removed, worn again. A daughter bites a man she should not bite. A wife uses a word her husband has been waiting three weeks to hear her not use. Each story is the length of a morning coffee, and each morning will bring you on the journey of some specific thing going quietly wrong, or quietly right on the valley's voyage to gradual interdimensional gentrification. The stories are darkly funny. They are funny the way a kitchen is funny, the way a long marriage is funny, the way a man is funny when he has decided, against all available evidence, to keep finishing his breakfast.
