The world has been ravaged by disease and war in result it has been left with little human interaction. Grace is an orphan living in a compound run by a pack of rebel teenagers who have lost their parents to the contest. These children are constantly fighting for freedom and their families everyday. Many of these children have lost their parents in the Contest and little does Grace know that when she helps a boy running from the Elders she is thrown into the middle of the Contest.
