Dissonance Stories

This poem is a haunting meditation on the erosion of language and cultural memory in the digital age. It opens with the image of words slipping through cracks, suggesting both loss and fragmentation, while screens hum with a sterile, mechanical presence. Vowels, the breath of speech, vanish, and syntax dissolves into slang, marking a shift from structured meaning to ephemeral noise. The scroll becomes a metaphor for endless consumption, where heritage is flattened and meaning buried beneath the feed's relentless churn. It is a lament for linguistic depth and ancestral connection, swallowed by the speed and surface of modern media.

Beneath an idealized surface, hidden from the casual observer, lies a mysterious complexity of raw emotion and inner turmoil. What's shown clashes with what's truly felt within, creating conflicts and anticipation as the carefully constructed image is peeled away to reveal the often-unseen reality of the heart. This is a collection of poems for him/ her.

Five seconds later, so much for morals.

What if Snape had never overheard that prophecy Trelawney told Dumbledore. What if Peter never betrayed the Potters? Muse, a sixteen year old muggle-born, lives in a world were neither of these events have happened. Where Voldemort and the death eaters took over the ministry four years ago. Her home for the last four years has been destroyed and she is on her own. What happens when she encounters unlikely help? [Prolouge] [Scarlett's POV] I looked around the old, calming house that I called "home". Many other people called this place "home", too. My parents, my sisters, my neighbors...... We've all lived here for quite a while. But here I was, about to leave this place for newer, bigger adventures. I have a long journey ahead of me, after all. TV production doesn't happen without education and training. I can't stay to watch little Arailynn or Lucifer grow up, or to watch Phoenix graduate high school. Arailynn burst through the door separating my family's side of the house and my neighbors'. Lucifer followed close behind her. I smiled brightly, happy to see my four-year-old sister and my six-year-old neighbor. "Hey, you two!" I exclaimed. "Are you coming to me to say goodbye?" Arailynn and Lucifer nodded. Both of the small children hugged me tightly. After they let go, Arailynn dragged me over to the rocking chair in her room. "Woah, kiddos! What's all this for?" I asked. Maybe they wanted me to read them a story? "Tell Lucifer about the Chaotics!" Arailynn begged, sitting on my lap. Lucifer sat down next to Araiylnn."Yes, Scarlett! Please tell me!!" He pleaded. I patted both of their heads. I guess I was half right? This story is not one I can simply read, it must be told instead. "Alright, alright. I will." I responded gently. After Arailynn and Lucifer had stopped cheering, I cleared my throat. "This is a tale that takes place in the summer of 2017, when seven children found themselves fighting for the safety of Nekao City. Now be warned: many of the names will sound familiar to you."

A Novella Off the coast of California, several towns are under attack. Every evening siren song fills the air--and every evening, someone vanishes. Traditionally the West family have dedicated themselves to keeping lives safe, but only one boy keeps trying--a bitter young man with no friends except the boat he sails in. Then she arrives--a girl, who for whatever reason keeps trying. Now she's a target. And he won't let her get hurt. NOTE: I wrote this in 2011. My writing has improved since then, but I want to share it. I hope you enjoy!
