ONCE my mom told me that we, as humans, only fear what we do not know and that that is the sole reason for violence. We do not know what is to come of something, so in retaliation we immediately fight it off before we can ever find out; before we can ever see if there is any beauty in it. My mom is gone now. Along with any sanity we as a people have left. The year is 2193, and the world is at war. We, humans, are at war with each other only because of what we are and what we can do. We fear what we do not know, thus all we know is ignorance. The government, our democracy, our people and our world have fallen. Nothing good ever comes from being afraid of the abnormalities of others, especially when those abnormalities are amazing. The truth is, none of us are normal. Everyone's definition of normality is different, making it humanly impossible for anyone to ever accomplish the craved label of "normal". Then again, everything we have grown capable of was once described as humanly impossible. By those standards none of us are human. Not even me. A U T H O R ' S N O T E : This book is completed and there will be a second book coming out sometime next year, most likely in the summer. Please excuse any grammar issues or misspellings I have. I hope there are not many, but please consider I do all of the editing myself. Also this is a revised edition of Incapable - Book I: The Fallen. I think I have made it much better than the original story I wrote in the summer of this year and posted only a few months ago. I hope you enjoy! Happy reading. Xoxo, Miquéla P.S. I'm more than open to Q & A in the comments section or on my board if you have any questions regarding the book or just in general. :)

100 years after the Great Meltdown, where almost all the electronics in the world spontaneously malfunctioned and caught fire all at once, the world had become a technology-free paradise. The people lived the life of those who'd lived over a thousand years ago in the 18th and 19th centuries. Electronics are outlawed, and the people have discovered magic as a substitute. This is the world that Iris Matthews was born into in 2920. Now 17, Iris has developed an unquenchable thirst for knowledge about what life was like before the Great Meltdown, but talk of it is forbidden, as well any books about it. Her parents push her to forget her silly curiosity and start thinking about marriage, no matter how many times she says she doesn't like her suitors. But one day her life changes forever when she finds Desdemon, a handsome cyborg who was made illegally and is on the run from the police. Against her better judgement, Iris takes him in, hoping he'll be able to tell her about life before the Meltdown. What she doesn't plan on, however, is falling in love.

After society as we know it was destroyed in World War V, a radical community of women emerged from the ashes and conquered the last survivable land in the Americas. This group of women, the Widows, blamed the war on the male species and their need for vengeance, sex, and violence. They created their own society based solely on structure, peace, and abstinence, isolating the male species completely. Two hundred years later, the community is known as the Axis. This all female safe haven is known to those inside it as the sole surviving community on earth; and the male species is presumably extinct. Codi, a 19 year old young woman in the Axis who seems to be the only one with questions about its past, is training to become the new leader of the community's defense. But when Codi follows her curious Captain into the woods one night to investigate a strange group of figures outside of the gates, she comes face to face with the one person she never thought she would see... because he was supposed to be extinct. As the lies of the Widow's unravel and Codi is taken farther and farther from the cold walls of the Axis, she comes to find that the story of history she has heard her whole life may not only be completely wrong, but a ploy to cover up what has truly been going on in the rest of the world since WWV. Soon, as she grows closer to her rescuers and learns that the male species is not at all what she thought, she begins to realize that there may be much more to life than the Axis led her to believe.

It started with the scream, the scream that ended us all. It started with the fear, the fear of that we would end. It started with the pain, the pain that started it all. The pain that crushed your bones and crushed your hope. It started with war, the war that killed thousands. The war that left us abandoned. It ended with the boat, with the country in ruins, all of the land masses left combined. They always said Pangea would come back but they never thought that in the combining we would lose some land mass. We lost the Republic of Thenes, or what was once Australia. We lost the Dethlen Islands, or what was once Hawaii and Alaska. We also lost any other smaller land masses that were not the major continents. We lost everything. It started with fire, Tenefire.
