Alexis Emerson was always shy, she lost her mother and future sibling at the age of six. Her confidence had gone down severely since that day. She grew up with no one but her dad at her side, and he, himself, is struggling to stay alive and happy. Alexis, after nine years of feeling lonely, her dad passes away from cancer. Lexi feels nervous when she realizes that she now has to move away and live with her mom. She doesn't know what to do or how to feel. She's feeling anxiety from having to leave the one home she's lived in for fifteen years- her whole life. But the biggest reason she's afraid is because she has not seen her mom in so long. When her and her mom finally meet, not much bonding happens. Alexis, feeling betrayed by her mom, ignores her as much as she could. School is all she has now. Lexi decides to turn her life all around. She doesn't want to be the shy, unpopular type anymore. She joins cheer, makes friends and even finds herself crushing on the football quarterback, Austin Parks. Soon enough though, the new guy, Evan comes to town. He seems to be the type who keeps all to himself, never talks to anyone, shuts everyone out. Lexi remembers how her mom was like that before she left. She wants to help Evan, or at least get him to open up, risking her newfound popularity. Will she and her mom come together as family again? Will Austin finally fall for her? Will it be Evan?

They weren't alike. One was her ex boyfriend, one was her best friend and patrner in crime. One could be her favorite, and one she stumbled upon. Although they were so different, they all had two things in common. They would always mean something to her, and they all got her way too distracted.

But who would've known how she really felt? Who would've cared enough to witness the agony she dealt?

Chelsea's older sister, Janae, and Jake's older brother, Tanner, used to date but had a bad break up. Tanner and Janae refuse to let their little siblings talk to each other. Jake and Chelsea have been friends since they were kids. Now what will they do? How long can they manage to not speak to one another? And what happens when a big surprise comes along? How do they act to the big surprise? Who gets with who (if anyone does), and what happens? You'll just have to travel with Chelsea on her journey to find out what happens. :D

A child runs across the street She just wants to play A truck comes up behind her He keeps coming and coming Doesn't slow for anything His head is down He's not watching the road He hears a bang He looks up but it's too late He steps out of the truck gets down to her level She's not breathing He's overcome with grief What does he do now The mother comes calling to her child "Dinner time" She sees the body lying beneath a truck She screams and cries Her baby is gone This man took her from her He got a text He looked at it "what's the harm" he thought "I'll just take one peak" He throws his phone to the ground watches it shatter This object distracted him and now this child has to pay

Your life and the lives of those around you are worth more than one hand on the wheel, a text or call, or one sip of beer. Drive safely, wear your seatbelt, and stay awake. Alert today... Alive tomorrow. This is a short story to give some perspective on the dangerous consequences that come with careless driving. While many of my readers will recognize the names of the characters, this story is entirely fictional. Enjoy and remember to buckle up!
