This is due to the previous team of Ultimate players in his school being seniors who have since graduated, being unable to recruit new players for the team due to dwindling popularity for the game. Kaito's life changes when the full dive VR game "Ultimate Shuriken Online" becomes the most popular game in the world. A game where players must use various types of shuriken's and thrown weapons without any form of aim assist. When Kaito joins this game he realises all of the skills from those ours of playing Ultimate in the real world transfer into the game. His new found skill makes him friends in the game but also enemies, sometimes they even go beyond the game.
