This story follows Claire Evans, a member of erudite who ends up caught and twisted in the web created by herself and dauntless leader Eric when she is forced to join dauntless by Jeanine. Her guarded and skeptical attitudes towards dauntless members, matched by Eric's controlling and callous tendencies result in a paradox that leaves them both in the dark.

Imogen Walker is a 16 year old girl from abnegation. She doesn't feel like she fits into abnegation very well, she can't understand why she should always be helping people and putting people before herself all the time. Some people would call her selfish and self-centred, but Imogen sees it as being head strong and independent. She is excited to have the aptitude test to find out which faction she belongs too . Eric Coulter is a ruthless dauntless leader who doesn't take orders from anyone, he doesn't let people control him, and doesn't take nonsense from anyone. He's the type of person that people don't want to get in a confrontation with and someone who you don't want to be on their bad side. He is cold hearted and doesn't let people see his nice side, if he even has one, until he meets a special initiate called Imogen Walker. This story will contain a bit of smut. Dauntless came as a shock for Ellis. Initiation is though and can be very lonely sometimes. When they also fall in love with the dauntless leader Eric, everything becomes even harder. They do things -bad things- they never thought they would do. How're they going to handle that? How will they survive their own mind? Fighting someone else might be hard, but fighting yourself is extremely difficult.

The day Eric changed faction to Dauntless, your whole world crashed. He left you, all alone, with no one but Him. It doesn't come as a suprise when you followed him when you were finally old enough, but what came as a suprise was the way he treated you in Dauntless.
