This is for the Beyond Sol: Gone Here contest. Sam is that last human alive and, after they die, humanity is officially extinct. Sam is brought back and asked to prove that humanity deserves another chance.

I peeked from behind the rocks, small and cautious, watching the lions for the first time. Their golden fur glowed in the sun, and their roars sounded so different from the jungle calls I knew. I didn't understand them at first - why they walked together, how they seemed to know what each other was thinking, or why they stayed so close to each other. I wanted to be like them - part of something bigger, strong and brave. I was a tiny white tigress, scared and small, but my heart ached to understand this strange, golden world and the lions who lived in it.
