Set during the winter of the Klondike Gold Rush in 1897, this story follows Sylvia, a 26 year old woman from the growing town of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Sylvia is married to a wealthy English huntsman named Allan White. She has a very unhappy life, and is often mistreated by her husband. Around this time, word starts to reach the town about tonnes of gold found in the Klondike River in the North.
