When Seraphina Hawthorne chooses to experiment with an ouija board app that her brother Jay downloaded, things go horribly wrong when he is found dead in the canal. Seraphina and Sophie, her best friend, believe it was the ghost of seven-year-old Rebecca Craig. Seraphina's mother allows her to go to the Isle of Skye to stay with Sophie's family for two weeks as a 'getaway', and the two girls try to figure out why Rebecca murdered Jay. Out of all the people in the world, why did I have to be one of his "dolls"? Why did I have to be pulled away from my family? Will anyone ever find us? Will I ever see my family again? I had so many questions that have yet to be answered.
