A very early draft of an small part of a memoir I'm working on about the experience of having a child with Down syndrome and discovering that the world is not set up for him. The book will be about the joys of him but also about the changes in me the experience has brought. What I'd love is if people would ask questions, or mention topics they'd like to cover. Sometimes when it's just your life you don't think about things from an outside perspective.

This poem is about my aunt, Karnin. She has Down syndrome, causing her to be mute. Karnin was put into a home for people with Down syndrome at a young age. She lives pretty far away so I don't get to see her much but when I do, leaving is the hardest part.

Livy's world has been turned upside down in result of the seemingly never-ending pandemic. Livy is a special education teacher and has a love for helping people, especially those with disabilities.
