As production begins on Downton Abbey's highly anticipated fourth season, actress Evie Pope returns to her breakout role as Lady Elisabeth Crawley. Reuniting with her beloved castmates, she finds comfort in the familiar halls of Highclere Castle and the easy camaraderie they've built over the years. Among them is her closest friend, Rob James-Collier, whose portrayal of a loyal footman to her often mirrors the companionship he offers her off-screen. On camera, Lady Elisabeth and Rob's character share a powerful, secret bond that transcends the rigid class lines of the 1920s estate. Off camera, Evie and Rob share a different kind of truth-one known only to a trusted circle of friends and family. Evie is blind in one eye, a condition she has quietly managed since childhood. To outsiders, the limitation is nearly invisible; her confidence, grace, and exceptional performance make her impairment easy to overlook. Yet the challenges are real. Her depth perception can falter, long filming days sometimes trigger headaches, and certain scenes-especially those involving period sets or complex movement-require extra care. But Evie has never faced these difficulties alone. Rob, ever attentive, keeps a watchful eye on her well-being. Whether guiding her around crowded sets, ensuring she feels steady on staircase scenes, or subtly adjusting blocking to make things easier, he protects her without ever undermining her independence. Their friendship becomes the quiet heartbeat of the production, built on trust, loyalty, and an unspoken promise that she will never have to navigate the harder days without support. As filming progresses, the bond between their characters deepens on screen, mirroring the real devotion that anchors their lives. With secrets shared, challenges met, and friendships strengthened, Evie steps back into the spotlight-proving once again that even in a world of grandeur and illusion, the truest stories happen behind the scenes.

Born into the golden age of England's aristocracy, Lady Charlotte Crawley has always stood just beyond the light - too independent for London society, too tender-hearted for its rules. The youngest of Lord and Lady Grantham's daughters before Sybil, she is her father's quiet favourite, the steady voice in a house divided by pride and change. From the morning the news of the Titanic arrives to the summer days that smell of roses and fear, Charlotte witnesses the Crawleys' world shift beneath its silken surface. Between her sisters' rivalries, her mother's grace, and her grandmother's sharp wit, she learns that the Abbey's walls may shelter them from scandal, but not from time. And then there is Matthew Crawley - modern, principled, infuriatingly sincere - the man meant for Mary but who finds in Charlotte a mirror of his own restless spirit. Their friendship blossoms in stolen conversations and quiet laughter, a love too deep to name and too dangerous to declare. Yet as 1914 dawns, the skies above England darken. Whispers of war become cannon fire, and the laughter that once filled Downton's gardens fades beneath the sound of marching feet. Sons, husbands, and brothers are called to fight; daughters must learn to be brave in their absence. When Britain enters the Great War, Charlotte's dreams turn to dread. The nightmare that once woke her - Matthew on a battlefield far from home - becomes terrifyingly real. Torn between duty and love, she must find her strength in a world unraveling, where every telegram could shatter a heart and every dawn might be the last of its kind.

Hey everyone and welcome to my first ever story on here. It was supposed to start out as a quick drabble, but somehow it got longer and longer and now here we are. This will be published in multiple chapters, possibly about 4 or 5 in total. Thank you to all the lovely people from tumblr who encouraged me to publish my silly little writings on here - I hope you do enjoy them. This little whatever this is is set in season 5. I did use some lines from the series, which obviously don't belong to me, but Julian Fellowes. I just thought I'd come on here and add some sort of background to the actual scenes we got. Without further ado - here we go :)

1920, England And the three teenage Clarke sisters thought what they'd wear to dinner was their biggest problem... Lady Kate, the entitled eldest. Lady Grace, lost in the middle and wishing she were braver. Lady Lizzy, so endlessly sunny, it's easy to underestimate her. Then there's Will Harvey, the proud, to-die-for-and possibly die with!-stable boy; Daniel Murray, the resourceful second footman with a secret; Raymond Allen, the unfortunate-looking young duke; and Fanny Rogers, the unsinkable kitchen maid. Upstairs! Downstairs! Toss in some farmers and villagers! None of them ever expected to work together for any reason. But none of them had ever seen anything like this.
