After a disastrous hunt leaves three mundanes dead, Isaak is suspended from active duty in the Bay and assigned to a seemingly simple investigation into a string of demonic attacks across the Southeast. But when his investigation brings him to New York City, he finds himself caught between Clary Fray, the New York Institute, and the Circle. What begins as an unwanted and uneasy alliance quickly becomes something far more when Isaak discovers that the Circle has ties to a tragedy his family has spent the past twenty years trying to forget. With old enemies resurfacing, family secrets buried beneath two decades of lies, and a certain infuriatingly attractive Lightwood constantly getting under his skin, Isaak is about to discover that some things are much harder in life than killing demons.
