She had recently been expelled from Beauxbatons academy of magic for taking a prank to far. draco and harry are both enemies, with draco being a death eater and all. draco is sent by voldemort to find out information about harry, which requires them getting close. draco does as told, but as he finds out more and more about Harry's past and his family life and such, he feels bad for him and can't kill him. when the whole forest scene happens, (from deathly hallows 2) and voldy "kills" harry, that's when draco realises he's completely fallen for him. after the war, harry realises draco is in an abusive relationship, and helps him out of it, resulting in falling for the blonde as well.
