There he meets the chief's daughter, Runa Darkwood. Viggo's intrigued by the woman's clever nature, and he's surprised when she proposes a deal he can't refuse. Viggo stood for everything Runa was against, but she needed to protect her village and defend a secret no outsider knows. Despite his cold and cunning personality, Runa manages to see a different side to the seemingly heartless man. But, can she live in peace knowing she's keeping so many things from him? The prologue is set before the end of season 2 of Dragons: Race to the Edge so Hiccup and the dragon riders have come in contact with the hunters. This story was inspired by the end of season 4 when Viggo mentions a Maces and Talons tournament to Hiccup when they're flying to find the Submaripper and stop Ryker. An alternate ending to "A World Without You" involving Hiccup's death. The riders were unable to get back to him in time... Hiccup and his fellow riders try to defend the edge from another dragon hunter attack led by Viggo and his brother Ryker. But during the battle, Hiccup gets injured and tries to hide his pain from his friends. But when the dragon hunters attack the edge again soon after, fighting the hunters leads Hiccup to get captured and in the hands of the hunter brothers. Can his friends get Hiccup before more harm is done?

You have likely seen it all before, Hiccup gets chosen to kill the Monstrous Nightmare but instead of staying to try and prove to his village dragons aren't the monsters they think they are, he leaves. Abandons the world he knows for a world of possibility, a world where he can be him, be free. What if he is one day discovered by a group of dragon riders and chose to join them as they had adventure after adventure. It would be a good life but of course it would never stay so happy, things would change sometimes for the better sometimes for worse. Old scars would surface, old lives reappear and new faces vanish, how would this affect him. Well shall we find out? I don't own the How To Train Your Dragon franchise of course and this is all done for fun. You know the legal stuff. I also don't own the image, I got it off of google as one could expect. For now the story isn't Mature though this may change in the future as I continue so I will make sure to change that if it becomes necessary, just an early warning just in case I break a guideline.

In an alternate turn of events, after Astrid is blinded by lightning she is kidnapped by Viggo. Who hides her away. The Riders are forced to race against the clock to get their injured friend back before it is too late and she is unable to get her sight back.

Nine years later still on her own with Litchwing, never staying in one place, making friends and more then a few enemies all over the archipelago, avoiding the dragon hunters the best she can so she doesn't get caught by them, meaning always lurking in the shadows because she's a wanted dragon rider in their eyes. Due to always lurking in the shadows, means easily tracking and getting information, then going and helping the ones who need helping, saving the ones who need saving and flying off into the sky after her deed is done. One day she gets caught in the act by one of the dragon hunters, she has to dig her way out of the situation in order to fly free without revealing her identity, which causes her more trouble then expected.
