I wanted nothing to do with Johnson, yet daily I followed exactly three steps behind him like a lost duckling. It was shameful. It was terrifying. But I was his reward, a spoil of war, and a reminder to any rebels that even their top heroes were at his mercy.

So this is based off a dream I had, so if any characters are OOC, I apologize. Even though it's based off a dream, I will add more then one chapter and a plot. .................................. After your dad gets a new job that's far away, which means you have to move to a different school. At first it's a bit rough, but, within a few days, how many will fall for you?

In the Kingdom of Evershade, war never ends. The air is poisoned, the streets are silent, and the people hide behind walls that won't protect them forever. Venomveil - the kingdom's deadly gas - was supposed to end the fighting. Instead, it kills everything, friend and foe alike. Kaela lost everything to the gas: her family, her home... her faith in the kingdom. But alongside her only friend, Brinely, Kaela has one goal left - end the war. Even if it means becoming the very thing she hates most. Even if it means destroying the kingdom from the inside. They'll fight. They'll bleed. They'll become knights. And if they fail... there may be no one left to save.

She thought it was just a shortcut - green steps curling up a wall, a path beyond the garden, away from watchful eyes. But what waited behind the green steps wasn't freedom... it was something watching, waiting, and far too real. Trapped between fear and instinct, she runs - through open fields, locked gates, and a world that feels like a dream gone wrong. But the deeper she goes, the more she realizes: some places don't let you leave the same.

Judas is a Lightener, at least she thinks she is. She lives with her mother a short ways away from town she technically lives in. Her friend, and supposive voice in her head, Mellidine, might be hiding a few things from her.
