While wandering the temple, Sven pulled a lever from a sarcophagus containing the body of Nabu the Wise. This accidentally woke Nabu and released poisonous gas which filled the temple, killing Kent's father, but leaving him alive. Nabu took pity on Kent and wiped away his memory of his father, Sven. Nabu then took Kent in and raised him as his apprentice, teaching him the ways of the mystic arts and how to become a master at sorcery. After twelve years of training, Kent was granted the Helmet of Fate, now granting him the title as Doctor Fate, the Sorcerer Supreme. Doctor Fate promises to defend Earth and the universe from any mystical threats, while keeping balance across the multiverse.
