Studies show that, on average, Paramedics face assault every 46 hours and injury-causing attacks every 9 days, with injury rates four times higher than the national average. It is notewhile, of course, that female EMT's have a disproportionately greater risk of violence-related injuries. When Wendy Devlin elected to become a paramedic, she hadn't done so with the idea in mind to become a statistic. Unfortunately, it is also notewhile that life doesn't always go the way you expect. But, when she breaks her arm one morning, her worst fear suddenly becomes unavoidable, and she's suddenly being forced back inside her own personal nightmare. Memories of her family lie behind every curtain, and her grief is threatening to swallow her whole. Maybe if she just holds out, she tells herself, it'll pass. Maybe if she just holds out, something good will finally come.
