Writing this story was one of the most difficult and deeply personal experiences of my life. Choosing to share it required a level of courage I never thought I possessed. When I was asked to put my experiences into words for a suicide awareness event, I struggled with the decision. For decades, I had buried those memories inside what I can only describe as a locked black box within my mind - hidden away in silence, fear, and pain. I never imagined I would one day revisit the abuse I endured throughout my childhood, teenage years, and adulthood at the hands of people who were supposed to love, protect, and guide me - family members, friends, and even trusted religious figures who stole my innocence as a child. The trauma I survived included mental, physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. Those experiences left lasting scars that followed me into adulthood, leading to lifelong battles with PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and severe social anxiety. For many years, I suffered in silence. Today, I share my story not for sympathy, but for understanding. I want people to see the reality of trauma, the damage it leaves behind, and the strength it takes to survive it. Most importantly, I hope my story helps others who may be facing similar pain know they are not alone.
