"You're really gorgeous," he said, sweeping her hair back into his long fingers and letting it fall in between his fingers.
"Don't say that unless you really mean it, Irwin. You know what happened last time." She said, giving him a mysterious smile, yet behind the smile lay worry. She had been in love with Ashton Irwin, her best friend, for years, and he had never been able to tell her he loved her back. Technically, he had, three times. Yet, every time, he had almost instantaneously regretted letting her see his feelings like that, and had found a way out of it. Usually, that way out was cheating. Finding girls for one night stands, screwing them, then planting evidence so she would find it and not want to date her. The plan made almost no sense, but Ashton was afraid, of either having his heart broken, or ruining his friendship with the girl he'd probably always love with all of his heart. Their love was complicated, but they had a love. A great love.
