The Electromagnetic Odyssey follows Deon, a brilliant but obsessive theoretical physicist who begins his experiment to harness energy from another universe. To save Erika, Deon must face the Seeker Leader in a battle as much philosophical as physical. Korrin's argument is seductive: erase all suffering by erasing the conditions that made it possible. Deon's rebuttal is harder. Surviving is not winning, but it is what makes living feel real. Deon takes the last Galvanocharm. He has all five. The ritual begins. But Deon does not try to stop it. He cannot. Instead, he witnesses it.

Before Trials of Stone I had developed and started many grand story concepts but had yet to finish a single one. Therefore, as the summer vacation approached it's end, my father presented me with a challenge. "Son," he said, "finish a story before the school year begins or I won't pay for your college tuition." Naturally, this was plenty of incentive for me to get my act together. Not wanting to go off of any of my previous ideas for fear that I would once again get caught up in the details and not be able to finish it, I did a random drawing to help myself come up with a new idea. This drawing turned into the Granite Lord Zaman, and from it I came up with the idea for Trials of Stone, for all intensive purposes my first completed story.
